Historical Background

  • Pun Sam Nursery have been operating since 1986, that is 31 years ago

  • It is a family business, started by the current owner’s (Win Seng) father who was an architect and had a passion for gardening and nurturing different types of plants.

  • His father decided to venture into the nursery business after he got married.

  • His major challenge was time management and acquisition of land to start up

  • He was able to overcome these obstacles and eventually started the business few years later.

  • His primary objective was providing the best services for his customers

Most popular product sold

  • The Chinese Peony flower

  • Peony is china’s most significant flower and is considered by many as the country’s national flower.

  • It symbolizes riches, prosperity and honour.

  • The price ranges from RM 60 to RM 100. And the stocks are sold off on arrival.

  • It is most popular among the Chinese customers who hold this beliefs.

Value proposition of the shops

  • This store is unique because the seed of the flowers and trees are high quality mainly imported from China.

  • They also offer other services such as garden consultation alongside nursery development

  • Most of the employees are family members who have the passion for gardening. Unlike other nurseries that tend to hire foreigners to work for them, the founder believes that the flowers will bloom beautifully when properly taken care of as a part of the family not as a means of income. This extra care makes their products special.

The Group’s Opinion about the Cafe

  • Pun Sam Nursery seems like a renowned name in the gardening business. This is evident by the large number of customers though it is not located in a very strategic location.

  • Opens daily from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm and during weekends, they close half an hour later

  • It also has a diverse variety of plants.

  • The ferns and other plants that were placed in each and every corner of the nursery were all in pretty good condition.

  • There are quite a lot of plants outside the nursery

  • We had some communication barrier as the staff could barely communicate in English or Bahasa Melayu

  • Overall, hospitable reception and nice ambiance.
